“Seoul Outdoor Library in Seoul Plaza,” “Seoul Outdoor Library in Gwanghwamun,” and “Seoul Outdoor Library in Cheonggyecheon Stream” are the innovative library models run by Seoul Metropolitan Library. As a library representing Seoul, the Seoul Metropolitan Library has been the leader in improving environmental awareness for sustainable development.

To help the users interact with nature and feel the values of environment, the Seoul Metropolitan Library opened an outdoor library in the plaza in front of the library and expanded the project to the world’s first and biggest “outdoor library” in Korea.

The outdoor library project takes a place in Seoul Plaza, Gwanghwamun, and Cheonggyecheon Stream, and it invites you to a new urban park where different generations share their experience and happiness in spaces full of Seoul’s culture and history, creating a new daily life.

The Seoul Outdoor Library runs an open library where all citizens visiting Seoul Plaza can freely borrow and read books on various themes curated by the Seoul Metropolitan Library on the grassy plaza.

An urban vacation space for enjoying book, relaxation, joy, and encounter. The Seoul Outdoor Library is a special outdoor library created for enjoying daily happiness, specialness, and relation in Gwanghwamun.

The Seoul Outdoor Library is a space for enjoying books and cultures in urban nature. Enjoy the moment of listening to sound of Cheonggyecheon Stream and spring waltz.
